Social purpose enterprises funded by the Toronto Enterprise Fund
The Toronto Enterprise Fund (TEF) supports social enterprises that employ people who are socially marginalized. We provide operational funding on an annual basis to the 13 enterprises currently in our portfolio.
This year, the Toronto Enterprise Fund is supporting thirteen established social purpose enterprises and three start ups.
• Seven of the thirteen enterprises funded by TEF in 2010 attained or exceeded business break-even
• The total sales of the thirteen enterprises exceeded $3 million in 2010
• Salaries and benefits paid to participants in 2010 exceeded $1.2 million, equal to 40% of total sales, and 60% more than TEF’s total funding to the enterprises
• 2,096 participants have been trained and/or employed by TEF funded enterprises since 2000.
